Kiek in de Kök Tower and Bastion tunnelsFavorites
The Kiek in de Kök tower together with the tunnels of the Ingrian and Swedish bastions is an exciting part of Tallinn’s historical fortifications. The exhibition of Kiek in de Kök and the Bastion Passages takes the visitor back in time on an entertaining and informative journey that begins in 1219.
Innovative video and sound effects and multimedia are used to tell the story of the birth and evolution of Tallinn, the history of the town fortifications and the key military events that happened here. The main part of the tunnel display inside the Ingrian Bastion focuses on the history of the passages. In a short tunnel that leads to the Swedish bastion, the time train takes the visitor forward to 2219.
The café on the top floor of the tower offers magnificent views of the upper town Toompea, the lower town and the harbour.
